Occupational Pattern and Economic Base

Agriculture:

The economy of this Municipal town largely depends on agriculture. As the soil is very much fertile and rainfall is moderate the region produces a good quantity of vegetables & crops round the year. In the field of agriculture at least 26.15% of population of the town is engaged.

Industry:

There is no large scale industry in the municipal area of the Arambagh Municipality. Arambagh Hatchery and a Paper factory are notable among the few industries in this town.

In the modern period Arambagh has been establishing link with many business places like Kolkata, Tarakeshwar, Burdwan, Bankura, Medinipur etc. by road ways. About 21 to 22 rice mills, many agricultural equipment industries, some repairing workshops were founded. Of course this development in trading is an excessive addition to the business and trade proceeding. Arambagh is one of the major business centres in this area.

But cultivation of potato and its preservation, of course have charged the economic cell of commerce belonging to Arambagh to the greatest degree. Many cold storages have been founded at several places under the control of Arambagh Sub-division. Now-a-days vegetable is adequately found in the markets of Arambagh and its surrounding area at cheap rate.

The main occupation of the people of this town is cultivation, business and service.
